Installing Drupal (v.7.12)
This article provides instructions on installing the Drupal (v.7.12) CMS platform onto your hosting account, via SimpleScripts.
Prerequisites
- An existing SiteWorx account.
Notes
- These instructions assume that you are installing Drupal for the first time. If you are currently running a previous version, and you want to upgrade, log in to SiteWorx and select Hosting Features > SimpleScripts. Under My Installations, follow the instructions for upgrading.
- As a courtesy, we try to provide the most up-to-date information involving third-party technologies; however, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of such content, nor can we guarantee the performance of the product.
- During the installation process, you will have the option to have a database automatically created for you. If you prefer to create a database yourself, be sure to do so before installing the application. Refer to Creating a New MySQL Database for instructions on creating a database via your SiteWorx account.
Preparing for Installation
- Log in to your SiteWorx account.
- On the main menu, select Hosting Features > SimpleScripts.
The page redirects to the SimpleScripts Web site. - Under the Content Management heading, click on Drupal.

- Upon clicking the Drupal option, the page redirects to the Install Drupal page. To begin the installation, click the Install button.

Next, you are presented with a page where you must specify certain settings. As you will notice, each section of the page is labeled with a step number. Continue by following instructions provided in the next section.
Specifying the Installation Settings
Specify the Drupal installation settings, as follows:
Step 1: Installation Preferences
- Select the latest (stable) version of Drupal.
Next, you must choose the location where you would like Drupal to be installed. The installation location will be based upon the Web site address where you wish to access this application. For example, "http://www.example.com/drupal". - Enter the directory, within your domain, where you wish to install Drupal. If this directory does not currently exist, it will be created automatically.
Step 2: Advanced Options
The advanced options are optional; however, be advised that if you choose to skip these options, a random Administrator user name and password for Drupal will be generated for you. Also, a new database for this script will automatically be generated. Therefore, if you want to have more control over how Drupal is set up for your site, you should consider specifying the settings as you want.
- To view the advanced options, click the Click here to display > link.

- A – This option allows you to install Drupal with Sample Data (Recommended for beginners).
- B – If you want to assign a custom title for your Web site, select the check box and then enter the desired name in the box below the check box.
- C – If you want to assign your own username and password, leave the check box unselected, and then enter the desired username and password (if you would rather have a username and password generated for you, select the check box and leave the Username and Password boxes empty).
- D – If you want a database to be automatically created for you, select the check box (recommended).
Step 3: Legal and Partner Information
- Click on the GPL v2 license agreement link and review. Select the check box if you accept the agreement.
- (Optional but recommended) SiteLock protects your Web site from various security problems, and also lets your visitors know that your site is safe and secure. Once installed, SiteLock scans your site for security breaches, including malware and e-mail vulnerabilities. Once the scans are complete, you can have the “SiteLock Secure” badge display on your page to let your visitors know that your site contains no problems or threats.
- Select the check box next to Ensure the security of this script with SiteLock.
Note: You will be able to enable SiteLock after the installation is complete, if you decide not to select it now. - Click Complete.
Once SimpleScripts finishes installing Drupal, it will display the installation details on the next page. SimpleScripts will also send the installation details to the e-mail address that you used to log in to SiteWorx.
That's it! You have successfully installed Drupal using SimpleScripts!
