Installing phpWebsite

phpWebSite provides a complete Web site content management system. Web-based administration allows for easy maintenance of interactive, community-driven Web sites. This article provides instructions on how to install phpWebsite on your Nexcess hosting account.

• The latest version of phpWebsite (1.6.x) can be downloaded from http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/pagesmith/2.
  1. Extract the Zip archive on your local computer using your preferred archive manager.
  2. Upload the contents of the phpwebsite_1_6_3 directory to your web root¹⁾ using FTP.

• Log in to your SiteWorx control panel and then follow the instructions provided in this article to create a MySQL database and user called phpweb.

• Open the index.php file in your Web browser.

  1. The script will run a system check. Click Continue.
     
  2. Click Begin Installation to continue.
     
  3. Enter the database information you created in Step 2, then click Continue.
     
  4. If the configuration file was written successfully, click Move on to Step 2.
  5. If the core installation was successful, click Continue to Module Installation.
  6. Create an admin user, then click Add User.
     • Enter a complex password or use a free password generator to create one for you.
  7. Select a layout and give your site a title, then click Done.
     
  8. You have successfully installed phpWebsite! Click Go to my website to begin using this software.
