How to configure DNS records in the Client Portal

This article explains how Nexcess clients can find and create DNS records from within the Client Portal.

ATTENTION: This only applies to clients on dedicated servers, or clients using any Nexcess Cloud service. If your account uses a shared server or a Nexcess Classic (non-Cloud) service, refer to How to edit DNS records in SiteWorx

But first...

You need your Client Portal username and password. If you cannot locate this information, click Forgot Password? on the Client Portal login page or contact the Nexcess Support Team.


ATTENTION: Afterward, allow up to 48 hours for full DNS propagation. In rare cases, it may take longer.

  1. Log in to the Client Portal.

  2. From the dashboard, click DNS > DNS Zones.

  1. You will see all current DNS zones associated with your account. If the DNS zone already exists, skip to Step 4. If you wish to create a new one, first follow the instructions in How to create and edit DNS zones in the Client Portal.

  1. On the DNS Zones page, locate the desired domain. Either click the name, or select the menu toggle, then click View.

  1. From the DNS Record List, select the desired type, then click the corresponding Add button.

  1. The fields will vary according to your choice. Fill all fields. If you are unsure about a default setting, leave it as is. Click Add when ready.
