How to configure EdgeCast CDN with a non-standard TLD

Overview
This article shows how to configure a non-standard top-level domain (TLD) within EdgeCast CDN.

EdgeCast CDN sometimes fails to recognize certain top-level domains (TLDs). To ensure EdgeCast CDN successfully caches your images, use both the IP address of the origin server and the hostname of the relevant web server.

In the following example, the domain name is example.clothing, and the domain host name resolves to 1.2.3.4. Therefore, you would configure your origin with the following information (Figure 1):

  1. Directory Name: Type desired name
  2. Hostname or IP Address: http://1.2.3.4
  3. HTTP Host Header: example.clothing

Figure 1. Example configuration with non-standard TLD.

If the EdgeCast system is configured using this method, it will recognize the domain name, and also allow your system to recognize the origin information, and run properly.
