How to purchase SSL certificates from your Client Portal

But first...

You need your Client Portal login credentials. If you cannot locate them, click Forgot Password? on the login page.

Step 1: Access Order SSL Certificate page

Attention: If you have already purchased an SSL certificate, either from Nexcess or elsewhere, instead follow the method in How to import SSL certificates.

  1. Log in to your Client Portal.

  2. Click SSL.

  3. Click Order Certificate.

  4. Select your desired certificate, then click Next. In many cases, a single domain standard SSL certificate will be adequate. If you are unsure, see What are SSL certificates? or contact our Support Team as directed at the end of this article.

  5. If you do not already have a private key and CSR, go to Step 2a. If you do already have them, go to Step 2b.

Step 2a: Let us provide your private key and CSR

  1. From the Source tab, click I Need Them or I Am Unsure, then click Next.


  2. In the Details tab, the interface will automatically fill most fields. Enter your Domain Name, Organization, and Organization Unit. Click Next when done.

  3. Review the Summary, then select your Approver  Email  Address from the drop-down list. Click Order when ready.

    Attention: For security reasons, you may only select one of the provided emails from the list. It may be necessary for you to create one of these accounts in your preferred email service.


  4. If successful, your pending SSL certificate will show a status of “In Progress,” and the Approver email address you designated in Step 3 above will receive a confirmation email. Follow the instructions provided in that email, then go to Step 3: Install your certificate.

Step 2b: Include your known private key and CSR

  1. From the Source Tab, click Yes I Have Them, then click Next.


  2. Cut-and-paste your Private  Key and CSR into the relevant fields, then click Next.

  3. Review the Summary, then select your Approver  Email  Address from the drop-down list. Click Order when ready.

    Attention
    : For security reasons, you may only select one of the provided emails from the list. It may be necessary for you to create one of these accounts in your preferred email service.

  4. If successful, your pending SSL certificate will show a status of “In Progress,” and the Approver email address you designated in Step 3 above will receive a confirmation email. Follow the instructions provided in that email.


    When the status reads “Ready to Use,” go to Step 3: Install your certificate.
